The Energy Corps officially launched a new program in Iowa with the training and orientation of nine new AmeriCorps members on January 26-28, 2011. Training sessions included overall orientation to NCAT and the AmeriCorps program as well as energy efficiency, conservation and renewable energy topics.
Honoring Dr. King
Volunteers across the country were asked to honor the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., by observing a day “ON” rather than a day “OFF,” and our Energy Corps AmeriCorps members turned out on Monday, January 17th, to do just that.
MLK National Day of Service Activities Planned
On the 25th anniversary of the Federal Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, Americans across the country will honor Dr. King by helping their neighbors and communities, making it a “day on, not a day off” — a national day of service to bring Americans together to help others.
New Members Start in Pennsylvania
Our new Pennsylvania Energy Corps members were featured in the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader. Members will be working to provide energy conservation measures in low income housing as well as educating residents about saving energy in their homes.
Montana Members Take Oath of Service
Butte, Mont. — Art Noonan, a director of the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) and deputy director of the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Department, administered the AmeriCorps oath of service to nine Montana Energy Corps members during a swearing-in ceremony Friday at NCAT.
