EC State Coordinators Jordan Goldsmith and Todd Hunkler recently attended the National Conference on Volunteering and Service, in New Orleans, LA.
Conference attendance tipped the scales at over 4,000 people and lasted 3 days. The conference included keynote speeches from LA Governor Haley Barbour, political commentators James Carville and Mary Matalin and Daily Show correspondent John Oliver.
Both Jordan Goldsmith and Todd attended a variety of individual sessions that focused on volunteer management, leaderships and complying with CNCS progress reporting and criminal history background check regulations.
A highlight of the individual sessions was “Ways Volunteer Managers Sabotage Their Programs” presented by Martin J Cowling of People First – Total Solutions. A dynamic speaker, Martin also mentioned Jordan, Todd and the EC in his blog (scroll down a few to catch his post!).
The conference was a great opportunity to meet and interact with new people and both Jordan and Todd say they left with a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm!
