Arkansas Energy Corps Members Participate in Energy Curriculum Training

On Wednesday, February 23rd, the Arkansas Energy Corps program held an energy curriculum training for Energy Corps members in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The training was facilitated by the Arkansas Forestry Commission and took workshop participants on a journey through Project Learning Tree’s (PLT)  Energy and Society curriculum materials, which are nationally-accredited and adhere to state teaching standards.  PLT’s Energy & Society program kit provides formal and nonformal educators with tools and activities to help students in grades PreK-8 learn about their relationship with energy and investigate the environmental issues related to energy’s role in society.

In addition to training AmeriCorps members, the Arkansas Energy Corps program opened the class  to educators from the Fayetteville Public Schools and TG Smith Elementary in Springdale.  In total, 30 participants completed the training, which is the maximum allowed. The Arkansas Energy Corps plans to host the training again in the Fall of 2011.
